We are very excited to announce the Australian Tour of Aneesh Pradhan 2011. Aneesh Pradhan will be performing three concerts: A solo lunchtime concert, a special performance with The Circle of Rhythm and a Hindustani classical concert with our own Adrain McNeil on sarod. Sunday 8th May @ 8pmIn a not to be missed one off spectacle, Australia’s Circle of Rhythm (Greg Sheehan, Ben Walsh & Bobby Singh) showcase their collaboration with one of the worlds leading tabla maestros, Aneesh Pradhan. Aneesh Pradhan: A disciple of tabla maestro Nikhil Ghosh, Aneesh Pradhan is one of India’s leading tabla players. From his beginnings as a televised child artist, to his global touring schedule as a solo performer Aneesh’s performances are in high demand across the world. Aneesh’s interests in pushing and experimenting with the boundaries of sound have seen him write for film, television, theatre and dance. Aneesh is also director of Underscore Records established with Shubha Mudgal. Together they also curate the festival, Baajaa Gaajaa, Music from 21st Century India. Aneesh’s skill and dedication as a tabla player of the highest order rank him with the worlds elite of musicians.The Circle of Rhythm; Bobby Singh, Greg Sheehan and Ben Walsh is a collaboration of three of the most unique, skillful and in demand percussionists Australia has to offer. Boasting a wide palette of musical styles and instrumentation from across the globe, Circle of Rhythm meld the varied style and sounds of percussion into a uniquely cohesive whole. Dr. Aneesh Pradhan is currently visiting Australia to teach master classes in improvisation in the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies, Macquarie University. This program is organised and funded by MMCCS, and aligned with the wider activities of Macquarie University’s India Research Centre. Sunday 15th May, 5pmAdrian McNeil: Born in Melbourne, Australia, Adrian He has undergone intensive training on the sarod according to the guru-shishya parampara (traditional methods) while based in India for many years, under Pandit Ashok Roy, Professor Sachindranath Roy and Dr. Ashok Ranade. He regularly performs in India and has appeared on Doordarshan and All India Radio along with leading cable television station Zee TV, Tara TV and has been interviewed by major national daily newspapers. He regularly performs in Australia, has made a number of recordings for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and has toured widely internationally. His latest CD (with Aneesh Pradhan on tabla) was released by Underscore Records, New Delhi.
